On the 18th of April, the Foresterie Valdesi (Waldensian Guest Houses) across Italy officially became member of AITR – The Italian Association for Responsible Tourism.
Many of the Guest Houses are located in relevant natural and historic sites, and with their profits they help the diaconia to finance and enlarge many of its aid projects.
The new membership aims at joining a wide network of conscious companies and their activities, as well as at connecting the diaconia with tourists focused on environment and responsible patterns of consumption.
Responsible tourism is tourism that is carried out according to principles of social and economic justice and with full respect toward the environment and cultures. Responsible tourism recognises the centrality of the local host community and its right to be protagonist in devoting sustainable and responsible tourism in its native land. Responsible tourism encourages the positive interaction between the tourist industry, local communities and travellers.
Everybody can be a “good traveller” .
