On the 21st of March, the Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth 2016 brought together in Brussels policy makers and civil society to discuss what the EU can do to ensure that all citizens reap the benefits of truly inclusive growth.
The one-day event kicked off with a discussion on the European Pillar of Social Rights initiative, and moved on to debates in workshops about specific issues that need work if the EU is to deliver sustainable, long-term inclusive growth.
At the Annual Convention, Eurodiaconia conducted, together with EUROCITIES and the European Social Network, a side event on Long Term Unemployment. The focus of the side event lay on how multi-stakeholder co-operation should be promoted in order to boost integrated approaches to the inclusion of long-term unemployed persons. In this regard, it addressed one of the key points contained in the Recommendation on the reintegration of the long-term unemployed, which was adopted by the Council of the European Union last 9 December.
