Our Finnish member Helsingin Diakonissalaitos (Helsinki Deaconess Institute) along with Fazer Group launched a new two-year employment initiative titled “125 Opportunities for Working Life”. The project, run in cooperation with Uusimaa Employment and Economic Development Office (TE Office), is aimed to support education and training for employability in the food-sector for long-term unemployed. It will particularly support people who are not in education, employment or training, including long-term unemployed youngsters, migrants, people with disability or those suffering from social exclusion.
Helsinki Deaconess Institute, Fazer and the TE Office are responsible for the selection process. That is designed to make sure candidates have a special interest in the food industry, as well as to provide them with the right task according to their talent.
Helsinki Deaconess Institute is one of the most prominent social actors in Finland, with a long experience in addressing unemployment and social exclusion. The Institute provides various training facilities in the fields of social and healthcare, nutrition and home economics.
Fazer is one of the largest corporations in the Finnish food industry. Fazer is an international family-owned company offering quality bakery, confectionery, biscuit and grain products as well as food and café services. Fazer operates in eight countries and exports to around 40 countries.
