The European Commission has published a Communication describing the progress made on the delivery of the 2015 European Agenda on Migration as well as the next steps the Commission intends to take in the near future. The European Agenda on Migration is a strategy proposed by the European Commission in May 2015. Its actions range from increased border security and returns to the creation of legal pathways and better integration of migrants in host societies.
For Eurodiaconia members the description of actions taken in the field of integration of migrants and the protection of children in migration may be of particular interest. The next steps planned by the Commission concern the achievement of a Reform of the European Asylum System, the enhancement of legal pathways such as resettlement and private sponsorship for refugees, a more effective return policy and the development of the Partnership Framework for Migration.
