Our member Diaconia Valdese collaborates with ISRAA Treviso and the City of Pinerolo in Italy to create the exhibition “Every life is a masterpiece”. It is an exhibition where men and women with dementia reinterpret great works of art.
The masterpieces of pictorial art have been reinterpreted to testify that a physical or mental problem cannot take away the dignity of a human being, produce marginalization or isolation and that the person comes first. This is why “Every life is a masterpiece”! To enhance old age, the exhibition starts with famous masterpieces, to which humanity recognizes absolute value.
The exhibition is part of the project “Towards a community friendly to people with dementia”. This project aims to increase awareness of the disease and reduce marginalisation and social prejudice towards people with dementia and their families. It allows them to take part in the community and improve their quality of life. It connects citizens, institutions, associations and professional categories of a city in order to make its spaces, its initiatives and its relationships more usable by all. The project started in July 2016 on the initiative of the Alzheimer Italy Federation.
