The European Media and Information Fund (EMIF)
The European Media and Information Fund pursues objectives of public interest and provides grants, on a competitive basis, to researchers, fact-checkers, not-for-profits and other public interest-oriented organisations working on disinformation research and strengthening media literacy and fact-checking.
The European Media and Information Fund is seeking applications for its program entitled “Investigations into Disinformation Dynamics” to address the existing knowledge gaps on the scale and scope of disinformation in Europe and gain a better understanding of the policies implemented to counter it.
Objective of the call for proposal:
- The key aim of this Call is to address the existing knowledge gaps on the scale and scope of disinformation in Europe and foster a better understanding of the phenomenon and its impact on European audiences. To this end, it supports a variety of multidisciplinary investigations in the form of case reports or situational analyses, designed, interalia, to monitor the mechanisms that enable the monetisation of disinformation, or expose the techniques, tactics and protocols (TTPs) used to create, disseminate and amplify disinformation narratives, or measure their impact on relevant European audiences.
These investigations should combine best journalistic practices, outcomes from factchecking activities, and analytical frameworks from leading research. They should also pave the way for follow-on research aimed at identifying appropriate methodologies and original solutions and/or future media literacy initiatives. This Call is specifically aimed at projects that can enlarge the current evidence base about the dynamics and characteristics of disinformation campaigns affecting European audiences, including foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI), and designed to undermine European policies and values under the current geopolitical circumstances.

Spencer Foundation
The Spencer Foundation invests in education research that cultivates learning and transforms lives. It has been a leading funder of education research since 1971 and is the only national foundation focused exclusively on supporting education research.
First call for proposal
The Small Research Grants Program supports education research projects that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived, with budgets up to $50,000 for projects ranging from one to five years. We accept applications three times per year. This program is “field-initiated” in that proposal submissions are not in response to a specific request for a particular research topic, discipline, design, method, or location. The goal for this program is to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in education.

Second call for proposal
The Racial Equity Research Grants program supports education research projects that will contribute to understanding and ameliorating racial inequality in education. They are interested in funding studies that aim to understand and disrupt the reproduction and deepening of inequality in education, and which seek to (re)imagine and make new forms of equitable education. Thus, they are interested in research projects that seek to envision educational opportunities in a multiplicity of education systems, levels, settings, and developmental ranges and that reach beyond documenting conditions and paradigms that contribute to persistent racial inequalities. The goal for this program is to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious, and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in relation to racial equity in education.

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is an American non-profit research and policy organization founded in 2002. Since its foundation, IPA has worked with over 400 leading academics to conduct over 900 evaluations in 52 countries.
The Human Trafficking Research Initiative (HTRI) invites proposals from researchers and organizations that intend to design and carry out studies on how to reduce human trafficking or respond to the needs of human trafficking victims but need some additional time and support to push the research project to the next stage. IPA invites proposals from researchers and organizations that intend to design and carry out impact evaluations exploring interventions to reduce human trafficking or respond to the needs of human trafficking victims but need some additional time and support to push the research project to the next stage. The objective of these small grants, ranging between $10,000 and $50,000, is to advance early-stage discussion between researchers and implementing organizations to the point where they have viable research project designs and plans that can lead to a full impact evaluation in the future.
Focus Areas
All research grants must focus on one or both forms of trafficking in persons as defined by the Trafficking Victim Protection Act:
- Sex Trafficking – when a trafficker uses force, fraud, or coercion to compel a person to engage in a commercial sex act or when a trafficker causes a child who has not attained 18 years of age to engage in a commercial sex act.
- Forced Labor – when a trafficker recruits, harbors, transports, provides, or obtains a person for labor or services by using force, fraud, or coercion.
