The Interreg Baltic Sea Region opens the third call for project applications in three thematic fields: capacity for innovation, management of natural resources and sustainable transport. The Interreg Baltic Sea Region is a programme within the European Regional Development Fund that supports integrated territorial development and cooperation for a more innovative, better accessible and sustainable Baltic Sea region. Through the call, the Programme intends to financially support transnational projects contributing to the development of a more innovative, better accessible and sustainable Baltic Sea region.
Interreg Baltic Sea Region aims at stimulating transnational cooperation by addressing issues that cannot sufficiently be tackled by single countries and require a joint response by partners from several countries of the Baltic Sea region. The Programme area covers eight EU Member States (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, parts of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden) and three partner countries (Belarus, Norway and parts of Russia). The funding comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Neighbourhood Instrument and the financial contributions of the Kingdom of Norway and the Russian Federation.
The programme priorities are strengthening capacity for innovation, managing natural resources and sustainable transport, and the specific focus of this call is on projects that increase institutional capacity of public authorities at all levels of governance by including public authorities with relevant roles in the partnership. After as many as 74 projects were selected in the three thematic priorities of the Programme, there is still €57.5 million ERDF funding available for new projects.
The deadline for the initial project idea form is 15 January 2018, to be sent to the Managing Authority / Joint Secretariat (MA/JS) to be considered for an invitation for a consultation. Only after a consultation lead applicants can obtain access to a complete project application not later than 9 April 2018.
More information on eligibility and the application procedure can be found on the Interreg Baltic Sea Region website.
