Within the Erasmus+ Programme, The European Commission has published a call for proposals titled Large scale European Voluntary Service events. The European Voluntary Service (EVS) assists young people aged 17-30 to carry out full-time voluntary service in another country.
Proposals are encouraged for events that support European and worldwide volunteering projects in the field of youth, culture and sport, for example World Youth Summits, European Capitals of Culture, European Youth Capitals and European sport championships. Any public or private organisation in a Programme country who is directly involved in the organisation of an international or European event in these fields is invited to apply.
Large scale EVS events consist of the following stages:
- Preparation (including practical arrangements, selection of participants, preparation of participants before departure)
- Implementation of the EVS activities and complementary activities
- Follow-up (including the evaluation of the EVS activities, the dissemination and use of the project’s outcomes, and the formal recognition of learning outcomes where applicable)
To be eligible for funding support, large scale EVS events must involve a minimum of 30 volunteers and must be free of charge for volunteers. In addition, subsistence, accommodation and local transport must be organized by the participating organisation, as well as adhering to the principles set out in the EVS Charter. Further information regarding eligibility and which activities are supported can be found in the E+ Programme Guide.
