One of our members in Finland, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, is inviting people to write their own ‘theses’ for the future. The initiative comes at the centenary celebrations this year of Finland’s independence, and also at the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church is encouraging people to send their messages through their website page of what they would do or what they would change for a better Finland and for a better world, and how they would act to move together for a stronger community. The project rests on the belief that we need each other, each other’s thoughts and common discussion to guide our work and our progress for social action and solidarity. The project will therefore bring together thoughts and visions for the future from different parts of Finland, and from expatriate communities across the world, to compile a list of suggested actions, hopes and to make the world a better, fairer and more inclusive place.
As well as leaving your own pledge, you can browse the theses that have already been written and ‘like’ your favourite. The 100 most popular theses will be shared with Finnish decision-makers, parishes and Archbishop Kari Mäkinen at the end of October.
You can read more about the initiative, and write your own thesis on the website.
