Caritas and Diakonie in Germany have joined together to produce a film for the Ecumenical Church Congress which highlights the importance of affordable housing.
The film was screened at the Ecumenical Church’s Congress in Frankfurt am Main and provided an opportunity to highlight the issue of in the city and the impact that affordable housing could have for some of Frankfurt’s most vulnerable communities.
There are approximately 7,000 people who are in temporary accommodation in Frankfurt am Main. During the Congress, Maria Loheide, the Director of Social Policy at Diakonie Deutschland, raised the importance of elected officials and housing industry executives acting quickly and with compassion in order to ensure that all homeless people in the city are provided with affordable and adequate housing.
The film is now available for public viewing on YouTube and Caritas and Diakonie hope that this video will engage with people regarding the situation for many people facing homelessness and to draw attention to the impact that a lack of affordable housing has on homeless communities.
