Early this week, the Finnish deaconess Terttu Pohjolainen has been nominated as new Kaiserswerther General Conference President. Mrs. Pohjolainen brings to her new role a wealth of strategic and team-management experience as Vice dean of the Diaconal Institute of Lahti and Managing Director of Kaarisilta, a facility for children and young people with disabilities. She has also served as Vice President of the Kaiserswerther General Conference. The Norwegian Superior, Rollaug Waaler, was elected instead as new Vice President. The German deaconess Anke Frickmann continues in her role as Vice President.
The meeting, which took place from 20-21 March, was also the opportunity to further discuss and plan the upcoming diaconal visit to New York City, as well as the 43rd General Conference, which will take place next year in Bielefeld-Bethel (Germany).
