Last week, ahead of the Annual Convention of the European Platform against Poverty and ahead of the Annual Growth Survey 2015 that is due to take place in November, Eurodiaconia wrote to the new president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junker, to insist on the importance of an Annual Growth Survey 2015 that would reflect the need to achieve both economic and social progress in the European Union. The letter is based on three policy recommendations:
- Acknowledge and respond to the social situation in Europe, strengthen the Europe 2020 poverty reduction target
- Strengthen Europe 2020’s credibility, reinforce stakeholders’ involvement
- Empower Europe through long-term thinking, promote social investment
