Last week the European Parliament approved the text of the legislation on public procurement agreed in negotiations with national governments last year. Compared to the legislation currently in force, the new text aims to be clearer and recognises explicitly the special characteristics of social services and the importance of quality. The text is expected to be officially published in March, and then Member States have to implement the text in national legislation.
Eurodiaconia is working with Social Services Europe on a briefing for members that will explain the implications of the new rules and show how our proposals for changing the text were taken on board. The briefing will be available in the next few weeks. The Social Platform’s first analysis can be read here.
