On the 14th of March, our member organisation in France, La Fédération de l’Entraide Protestante-FEP (Federation of Protestant Mutual Aid) signed a memorandum of agreement with the French Ministry of Home Affairs (Ministère de l’Intérieur) to implement the Humanitarian Corridors project launched with Sant’Egidio Community, the French Episcopal Conference, and Caritas France. The agreement was signed in the presence of the French President Mr. François Hollande and the former Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Bruno Le Roux.
The project will allow refugees from Syria and Iraq, temporarily hosted in Lebanon, to be safely welcomed and integrated in French society. The project includes plans to welcome about 500 asylum-seekers after their dossiers have been verified by the authorities and the project promoters.
The Humanitarian Corridors is an ecumenical and European project initiated by the Sant’Egidio Community, and it is aimed at contributing to the European migration agenda.
