Last month in Oulu, Finland, was presented the eServices for healthy ageing – GASEL study.
GASEL project is a multidisciplinary project realised by the University of Oulu, our member Oulu Deaconess Institute, the city of Oulu, the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District, BelleGames Ltd, BonWell Intelligence Ltd, HappyWise Ltd, IsComOy, Mawell Ltd, and Caritas Foundation. The project was conducted from 2014 to 2016, and is aimed at mapping special needs of older people and various aspects related to their health. The study is based on existing data and on a population-based questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was posted to 1500 people aged 65 or more, living in Oulu area and being home dwellers. The return rate was 61 percent (n=918).
The preliminary result of GASEL survey indicate, for example, that men are more likely to consider that health related stories and articles are too long and that Individuals in the oldest age group (80 years or older) are most likely to avoid thinking about exercise.
