On the occasion of the joint event “The Return of Social Policy in Politics” that took place on 9 March, several German not-for-profit social organisations (our member Diakonie Deutschland, Hans Böckler Stiftung, the Evangelical Church in Germany and ver.di) issued a position paper advocating for a strong welfare state.
The position paper, composed of five theses, argues that more means are needed to support welfare organisations in Germany, which play an essential role in the building of a just and inclusive society. It notably reports the fact that low wages and the shortage of personnel in welfare organisations undermine their capacity to address the increasing demand for assistance.
