On the 10th of November, our Dutch member Kerk in Actie held its 123rd Diaconal National Day. The event took place in Utrecht and hosted more than a thousand deacons, church members and pastors from all over the country.
The participants had the opportunity to gain inspiration for their diaconal work from more than 15 workshops, meetings and exchanging moments focusing on poverty, solidarity, and refugees.
The all-day meeting also featured a vote on the best diaconal initiative of 2018 and the so-called “experience market”, a space in which participants could learn and share best practices with other diaconal organisations and partners.
Kerk in Actie is the programme for missionary and diaconal work of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. Kerk in Actie facilitates relations between local congregations in the Netherlands and churches and organisations abroad working in the tradition of diaconia. Kerk in Actie co-operates with almost a thousand partner churches and organisations in more than 60 countries of Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
