The devastating effects of the financial and economic crisis on European labour markets constitute a pressing challenge in many EU countries. Long-term unemployment has major social and economic implications, also for families and local communities, which may become scarring in absence of adequate responses.
Our new briefing on long-term unemployment is aimed at updating members on recent policy initiatives at EU level on the topic. The document explains the specific focus of such initiatives. It also discusses why they are relevant for our members as providers of work inclusion and social services targeting long-term unemployed persons or persons furthest from mainstream labour markets.
