The Documentation and Cultural Centre of German Sinti and Roma recently published a report which examines antigypsyist prejudices in the German media. Rather than focusing on extreme forms of discrimination, the report looks at more implicit, everyday examples of how centuries-old clichés are being confirmed and reproduced in public space.
Starting with a summary of previous debates on the representation of Roma and Sinti in the German media, the report then explores various strategies and mechanisms which shape an ‘antigypsyist framework of interpretation.’
