The Urban Innovative Actions Initiative (UIA) has launched its fourth Call for Proposals, aimed at providing urban areas throughout Europe with resources to test new and unproven solutions to address urban challenges. Among the call’s four specific topics, the most interesting for diaconal organisations is related to tackling urban poverty.
This specific call for proposals is aimed at reducing the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion, in line with the key objective of the Europe 2020 strategy. UIA’s call aims also to foster innovative solutions, in particular regarding the fundamentals driving cyclic poverty in deprived areas.
Eligible project proposals shall focus on the following themes and issues:
- Social, educational and spatial segregation;
- Energy poverty;
- Child poverty;
- Homelessness;
- Food and nutrition security;
- Low health status and deprivation in access to healthcare;
- Regeneration of deprived urban areas and neighbourhoods;
- Social integration of Roma people.
The call deadline is set for 31st January 2019, the overall budget for this call is approximately 80-100million euros.
