Our member Nueva Vida celebrates its 25th anniversary, reflecting on a remarkable journey dedicated to social justice and innovative approaches to social inclusion. The organization’s dedication has positively impacted the lives of thousands, emphasizing the realization of human rights for everyone, particularly those in vulnerable situations. Nueva Vida focuses on assisting people deprived of liberty, victims of sexual exploitation, migrants, refugees and those at risk of social inclusion through impactful programs.
To mark this milestone, a series of events promises inspiration and joy for Nueva Vida’s social journey. From the soulful ‘Gospel Bilbao’ choir concert, featuring over 40 singers and a four-member instrumental band to ‘For a Second Chance Awards’ at the Cantabria Film Archive on November 29, aimed at recognizing the work of volunteers and socially responsible companies.
Over the past four years alone, Nueva Vida has assisted over 18,000 people in situations of social exclusion. Two programs stand out as the flagship initiatives of Nueva Vida: ‘Comprehensive Care for Women Victims of Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation’ and ‘Social Intervention in the Penitentiary Environment.’ These programs underscore the organization’s ongoing commitment to offering support and care to those often forgotten by society.
Innovative initiatives for social change further define Nueva Vida’s impact. The ‘Walking towards Housing First’ project, launched in 2021 in collaboration with the Government of Cantabria, provides immediate and stable housing solutions for people in situation of homelessness, emphasizing that everyone deserves a safe place and a second chance.
Nueva Vida has embraced social entrepreneurship with the launch of Nueva Vida Textil, a vocational training and upskilling programme supporting the labour integration of those at risk of social exclusion. Additionally, the upcoming launch of Berris, a “purpose-driven” fashion brand, aims to generate social impact, and further the organization’s mission.
As Nueva Vida celebrates its 25th anniversary, the organization hopes these events serve as a tribute to the commitment of all professionals and volunteers who have played a crucial role in making a positive difference in the community.
