Eurodiaconia drafted a response to the European Commission’s proposal for a Council recommendation on the integration of the long-term unemployed into the labour market.
This letter was sent today via email to DG employment of the European Commission, members of the European Parliament engaged in groups dealing with this issue, the social attachés of the Permanent Representations to the EU and some NGO partners.
In summary, the response argues that the proposed recommendation contains a sound assessment of the necessary actions to lift people from long-term unemployment, and brings several other points to the attention of the European Commission and Member States in order to render the provisions contained in the proposed Council Recommendation more effective and responsive to the needs of long-term unemployed persons.
