Early this month, Bishop Richard Bogusz has been reelected President of Diakonia Polska (Polish Diaconia) by the Synod of the Lutheran Church in Poland. Mr Bogusz was elected on the second day of the session, and he was the only candidate for the position. In his speech he talked about the concept of restructuring the Diakonia. – To be more productive, diocesan deacons and some parishes may need to become independent, turned into associations or foundations – he said.
Bishop Richard Bogusz was born in 1951 in Bielsko-Biala. He graduated in theology at Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw in 1975. In 1976 he was ordained as a minister and took office at the Protestant Lutheran Church of Divine Providence in Wroclaw. From 1994 until 2015 he was Bishop of the diocese of Wroclaw Lutheran Church. In 2005 he was elected president of the Diakonia Polish for the first time, replacing bishop Jan Szarek. He is married and he has an adult son.
