The newly launched SERCo project, promoting social entrepreneurship for Roma Communities, aims to find a new solution to a persisting challenge: the lack of access which Roma are facing when it comes to the labour market, contributing to a situation of poverty and social exclusion. It is structured around the following pillars:
- Analyzing the potential of applying social economy practices within Roma communities, from a social, economic and institutional point of view
- Engaging policy-makers and civil servants and training Roma mediators for developing social enterprises
- Assisting Roma social business initiatives and promoting social economy within Roma communities and to the general public
The SERCo project is financed by the EU’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme and covers six countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania and Spain.
