Eurodiaconia together with its Finnish members the Deaconess Foundation and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is pleased to invite its members and partners to its joint event on the concept of the “Economy of Wellbeing” – What role and added value bring faith-based actors?
The launch of the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) in November 2017 was an important milestone in raising the social rights higher on the EU’s policy agenda and linking the economic and social dimensions closer together. The Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union wants to continue and deepen the discussion launched by the EPSR and intends to reflect on the Economy of Wellbeing. While human wellbeing is a value in itself, it is also vital for the economy. This is the primary claim of the Economy of Wellbeing. What can Churches and faith-based organisations bring to the discussion?
The roundtable will take place on the 5th of November in Helsinki, and it is aimed at sharing information and initiating an open discussion between Eurodiaconia members, collaboration partners, selected civil society representatives and policy-makers in order to both discuss and to bring forward the added value of Churches and faith-based organisations regarding the Economy of Wellbeing. The overarching theme will be thematically discussed from various perspectives, for instance, from a social equality perspective with a special focus on migrant women.
