The Roma Education Fund, together with the Open Society Foundation and Unicef, recently published a report on Roma early childhood inclusion in the Czech Republic. The report calls for reforms in the early childhood education and care sector as the conditions in the Czech Republic are not sufficient: The country has a high level of educational inequalities, a lacking supply of early education possibilities and a school system which allows structural exclusion of certain children, including Roma children. Also, the European Commission calls for renewed efforts to ensure the access to and participation of Roma children in preschool education in its evaluation of the National Roma Inclusion Strategy.
Amongst others, the report urges the Czech government to renew its commitment to provide early childhood education for all citizens and to increase support for Roma families and children. In order to access the full report, please click here.
