The European Commission launched new calls for proposals under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV). This programme aims to protect and promote Union rights and values as enshrined in the EU Treaties and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. It will contribute to sustain and further develop open, rights-based, democratic, equal and inclusive societies based on the rule of law. The new calls for proposals are:
1- Call for proposals to prevent and combat gender-based violence and violence against children (CERV-2022-DAPHNE)
The aim of this call is fighting violence, including gender-based violence, in particular, through these following objectives: 1) preventing and combating at all levels all forms of gender-based violence against women and girls and domestic violence, including by promoting the standards laid down in the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. 2) preventing and combating all forms of violence against children, young people and other groups at risk, such as LGBTQI persons and persons with disabilities. 3) supporting and protecting all direct and indirect victims of the forms of violence, such as the victims of domestic violence perpetrated within the family or within intimate relationships, including children orphaned as a result of domestic crimes, and supporting and ensuring the same level of protection throughout the Union for victims of gender-based violence. An online Info Session on this call will take place on 4 February 2022 10:00-12:00 CET at the following link. The deadline for applications is the 12th of April 2022. For more information, please visit the Commission’s website.
2- Call for proposals to promote gender equality (CERV-2022-GE)
The aim of the call is supporting, advancing and implementing comprehensive policies to promote women’s full enjoyment of rights, freedom from gender stereotypes, gender equality, including work-life balance, women’s empowerment and gender mainstreaming. The Policy Initiative supported is Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025. The themes and priorities of the call are: 1) Equal participation and representation of women and men in political and economic decision making. 2) Tackling gender stereotypes, including with a focus on youth, and in advertising and the media. The deadline for applications is the 16th of March 2022. For more information, please visit the Commission’s website.
3- Call for proposals to protect and promote the rights of the child (CERV-2022-CHILD)
The aim of the call is supporting, advancing and implementing comprehensive policies to protect and promote the rights of the child. The Policy Initiative supported is EU strategy on the rights of the child. This call for proposals will contribute to the implementation of the first thematic area of the EU Strategy on the rights on the rights of the child – Participation in political and democratic life: an EU that empowers children to be active citizens and members of democratic societies. Therefore in this call, strong involvement of local, regional and national public authorities is essential as it contributes to the sustainability of the results and ensures more systemic changes. This can be achieved by allocating adequate resources for new and existing mechanisms of child participation, through education on citizenship, equality and participation in democratic processes in schools, capacity building for adults on how to engage in discussions with children in a meaningful way and awareness raising and training activities for children. The deadline for applications is the 18th of May 2022. For more information, please visit the Commission’s website.
