Our Member, Okumenikus Segelyszervezet from Hungary, has been making an impact with its series of programmes titled, ‘Handrail 2.0’. This project has developed a new educational methodology following the outbreak of COVID-19 and is helping hundreds of children to participate in digital learning.
Primary school students, particularly those from difficult situations, have been receiving tutoring from High School students in Budapest. The online learning program, which started last November and is constantly expanding, has been able to provide assistance to children living in 5 settlements: Felsődobszán, Boldogkőújfalu, Kastélyosdombó, Lakócsa and Orosháza. At present, 42 high school students help 26 elementary school students and offer their time twice per week to assist in mathematics, Hungarian, foreign language and science-related subjects.
